Training in Place -- Meet Ups

Training in Place. Work on your own, obedience, tricks, manners etc, if you need a training buddy or co-operative dog for an exercise just ask. If your dog needs space (fearful or reactive) let us know ahead of time so that we can accommodate your needs-- our chosen locations have plenty of space.

Locations for training are in and around the Stouffville area, public places, with space for training. Details available to members through facebook and/or via email (to join via email, put your email in comments--I will add you. I will not publish any comments that contain your email address or other private information).

1st Time Out: please read the group faq and we really look forward to seeing you soon. The Faq & Rules

Some hints for having a fantastic time;

Come a few minutes early if your dog needs time to settle, sniff, pee, etc.

Bring water & bowl, especially in summer. Dogs get thirsty, especially if you are using tasty food rewards.

Do bring all your usual equipment. Long-lines for advanced work is recommended as we don't have off-lead friendly locations.

Plan your training session ahead of time/know what you want to work on.
Meet-up Planner <--check this link out if you need some guidance.
If you are currently attending classes, ask your instructor for 'homework'; if it's been awhile, take some time to review exercises you did in classes, jot them down, so you'll have something to practice.  Feel free to ask for tips or suggest some group exercises.

If you have never taken formal classes and are new to dog training, I strongly suggest taking classes first.  Any beginner adult dog class or 'basic manners' class should be enough to get you started. We work independently and are at different levels (some of us have been training our dogs for years).

We usually spend the first few minutes getting together, chatting, letting our dogs settle in, & discussion what we want to work on.

We usually spend about half an hour working with our dogs, independently and/or in group exercises.

After a half hour there is usually a short (or long) neighbourhood walk for those that want to participate.
